One of the nominees for this year's Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy award is Firework by Katy Perry. The song and the official music video were released late 2010 and achieved high commercial success. Firework is considered to be her signature song.

The single was written and produced by Katy Perry, Sandy Vee, Sandy Wilhelm, Ester Dean and Stargate at the Soapbox Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

By early 2011 Firework became the second highest selling single by a female artist, right behind Tik Tok by Ke$ha. On the Billboard Hot 100 list, Firework reached the No. 1 spot and a Top 5 spot on 20 different music charts around the globe.

'Firework' has been compared to Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' as a more upbeat version of the song.

When asked, Katy Perry said that Firework is her favorite song on the Teenage Dream album.

The official music video was shot in Budapest, mainly the Buda Castle and was ranked #1 on the Top 50 Videos of 2011 chart list. The open casting call for the video created such a buzz that an unheard-of 38,000 applicants. It finally premiered on October 28, 2010. The Fireworkmusic video went on to win various awards such as: Video of the Year at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, and went on to be nominated for the Best Female Video and the newly introduced Best Video with a Message.

It's become the theme, nowadays, for songwriters to create an anthem, or at least attempt creating an anthem. The other nominees in the Best Pop Solo Performance category are good, but I feel this is a song that people could say about themselves.

Firework is the moving anthem for many people all over the world. It's upbeat tempo and moving lyrics give it a very good chance of winning a Grammy at this year's Grammy Awards Ceremony.
