Nominee for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media: Tangled produced by Alan Menken

The original score for Tangled was composed by Alan Menken, the 8-time Academy Award winning composer, with the lyrics written by the wonderful Glenn Slater. In an interview, Menken had said that he had attempted to blend the medieval tunes with 1960s folk rock to create the music.

Changes were constantly made throughout the movie with regards to the music. The song, "When Will My Life Begin" replaced an earlier version entitled "What More Could I Ever Need?". Alan Menken even reported that the opening number went through 5 or six different versions. There was also a love song sung by Mother Gothel to Rapunzel but it was changed and reprised later by Flynn Rider. The idea was apparently replaced by two songs: "Mother Knows Best" and "I See the Light".

The album peaked at No. 3 on the Top Kids Albums chart, No. 7 on the Soundtrack chart and at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The whimsical and moving music is sure to delight listeners of all ages. From it's opening number to the final notes, this album has a high chance of winning a Grammy in just a few short days.
